Collectors

This page is mainly about collectors, and the names by which they like their hobbies to be known. Like Collective Nouns and Phobias, some of these are of dubious provenance.  Most of them, naturally enough, were probably invented  by the collectors themselves, but some of them seem to indicate a need to impart an air of sophistication to what some non–devotees might regard as a pretty pointless pastime.

But another thing they have in common with Collective Nouns is that they keep coming up – so they're worth knowing.

At the bottom of the page there are a couple of questions that don't fit the above description. (i.e. they don't just ask what somebody collects.)

If you don't find what you're looking for here – and particularly if it ends in "ology" – try Ologies.
