A popular type of quiz question is "From which (UK) port could you travel by ferry to ... ?" This page aims to cover such questions.
I've included a clue to the location of the home port, where I think this might help.
Most of this information comes from Ferrysavers, through which you can book tickets for literally hundreds of ferry services around the world. I've only extracted a selection of the UK ones, but I've also added a few more that Ferrysavers doesn't seem to cover.
I've classified the services according to the companies that run them – not because I wish to provide them with free advertising, but because most of them specialise in one geographical area and so provide a ready–made classification.
Note that some destinations can be reached from more than one home port.
This information was gathered in July 2017, at which time it was hopefully up to date.

For those of us who love islands, and particularly the Western Isles of Scotland, just the name of Caledonian MacBrayne is enough to bring the mists into our eyes. The following is a small selection of the company's routes.
In the following table, the question is sort of the other way round: "Which Scottish island can be reached by ferry from ... "

Condor Ferries also run a service between Jersey and Guernsey.
DFDS stands for Det Forenede Dampskibs–Selskab (literally 'The United Steamship Company'). The company was founded in 1866, by a merger of the three biggest Danish steamship companies of that time.
